WHO WE ARE
The Oddie Project is a permanent, integrated community hub designed to bring stability, opportunity, and support to individuals and families across Northern Nevada. Led in partnership by The Children’s Cabinet and the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, the project unites essential services under one roof: child care, food access, youth programs, workforce development, and coordinated family support.
This initiative is built on a simple promise: every child, parent, and individual deserves access to the resources that help them thrive.
OUR STORY
The Oddie Project was created in response to the growing needs of families in ZIP code 89431, a community of more than 40,000 residents facing rising costs, transportation barriers, and fragmented access to essential services.
By transforming an underutilized commercial space into a long‑term community asset, The Oddie Project offers a coordinated, accessible solution that strengthens individuals and families, expands opportunity, and supports the region’s long‑term growth.

Kim Young has spent decades supporting children and families, bringing a strong foundation in social work and deep expertise in youth development, family support, and large‑scale organizational management. After beginning her career working directly with at‑risk youth, she returned to The Children’s Cabinet in 2013 and ultimately became CEO in 2018. Today, she leads one of Nevada’s most trusted nonprofits, ensuring thousands of children and families throughout the state have access to the safety, stability, and opportunity they need to thrive.

Nicole Lamboley has spent her career in public service and nonprofit leadership, including more than a decade with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada in roles focused on community engagement, partnerships, and organizational operations. She previously served as Nevada’s Deputy Secretary of State and has held leadership roles in statewide community initiatives. Today, she champions a trusted regional leader in hunger‑relief services supporting individuals, seniors, and families across northern Nevada and the eastern Sierra.

Founded in 1985, The Children’s Cabinet provides a continuum of services that support children, parents, and youth across Northern Nevada. Its programs include early childhood support, behavioral health services, youth development, and basic needs assistance. The organization is known for strong fiscal management, responsible stewardship of public and private funding, and a long history of expanding programs to meet community needs.
Established in 1983, the Food Bank of Northern Nevada is the region’s primary source of food assistance. Serving a multi‑county area, the Food Bank distributes millions of meals each year through partner agencies and direct service programs that reach children, seniors, and families. The organization is recognized for efficient operations, strong financial stewardship, and the ability to manage large‑scale facilities and partnerships.
